Campuses in Development
History
Jim and DeDe Wood began to sense that God was leading them to launch a Vineyard campus in Paxton while driving to the Sullivan Vineyard one Sunday morning in November 2009. "We always thought there would eventually be a Vineyard Church in Paxton, but never really felt called to head it up until that day", Jim said.
In the ensuing months, excitement about a possible Paxton Vineyard Campus began to grow throughout the many small groups in the area. An interest meeting was held on Sunday, April 25, 2010 to see if there was enough support for a local campus and over 80 people showed up! It became clear that day that God had an aggressive timetable and a September 2010 launch date was set.
Throughout the Summer of 2010, a crew of over 100 volunteers worked weeknights and weekends to get the rented facility prepared for a new church home. The emerging church team also reached out to the Paxton area through various giveaways and community connections. On Sunday, September 26, 2010, the Paxton Vineyard opened the doors for their first Sunday services and had almost 400 people in attendance!
